Dear Prospective BSN Student...

Thank you for your interest in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at BMCU.  On this page you will find the application and a list of your pre-requisites.  Please take special note of the required deadlines.  Admission to the Traditional BSN track is competitive and is based on your ACT score and Cumulative GPA.  Admission to the RN to BSN track requires an unencumbered Mississippi or compact RN license.


Admission Requirements

There are specific requirements that must be met in order to be considered for admission, and they include:

 

  • Applicants must be admitted to the University.  CLICK HERE FOR BMCU APPLICATION
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C prior to

 

        enrolling in nursing courses.

 

  • All prerequisites must have a minimum grade of C in the most

 

         recent attempt

 

  • A&P I &II, Microbiology, and Pathophysiology may only be

 

         repeated once.

 

  • After the second failure to earn a “C” or better in a physical or

 

         biological science course, the student is ineligible for admission to

                      the program.

 

  • There is a 5-year limit on science and biological courses.
  • Cumulative GPA is calculated based on all courses attempted
  • Cumulative GPA is calculated based on all courses attempted and must be a minimum of 2.5 for Traditional BSN candidates with ACT Score of 21 or higher; Traditional BSN candidates with ACT Score of 18-20 must have Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.0 for RN to BSN.
  • Official transcript(s) from each institution attended must be submitted prior to the deadline.
  • Documentation of your ACT composite score for Traditional BSN.
  • Traditional BSN Program applications are due April 1.
  • RN to BSN Program priority application deadline is July 1.

Admission to BMCU does NOT guarantee admission to the BSN Program. Any questions you may have concerning college admission requirements, financial aid, or tuition should be directed to the appropriate office. You may call the tollfree number at 800.235.0136 to be directed to the Admissions Office or the Financial Aid Office. Be sure that you apply for admission to BMCU as soon as possible. You will be notified of your admission status by email. Pending offer of admission to the School of Nursing, there will be a fee for a background check and drug screening. Completion of the BSN prelicensure program will qualify graduates to take the NCLEX-RN ®. The NCLEX is the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Examination. Individuals wishing to practice as registered nurses must pass the NCLEX. Individual states have different requirements to practice as a registered nurse. Applicants may contact any state board of nursing to verify practice requirements. Applicants may also visit the website of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing for additional information.


The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum meets state educational requirements for professional licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). To determine the state requirements for professional nursing licensure as an RN, please visit the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) webpage, https://www.ncsbn.org/14730.htm, then select the state where you want to know the professional licensure requirements.
